I was wondering what you thought of Once Upon a Wintertime as a style we could try to strive for? At the least it's how I imagined the characters bending their limbs. While looking through other short films and styles, this video that Hillary Bradfield originally showed us for Edith and the Bear, was always in the back of my mind. Lemme know what you think!
I like it :) very flowy..
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm not an animator...I like it! lol. :)
ReplyDeleteIf we can pull it off then yeah. I'm concerned about the amount of time we'll be able to dedicate to that amount of settle and overlap (meaning animating time, not screen time).
ReplyDeleteHilary showed this film as an example for Edith last year just fyi.
Yea we don't have to copy it entirely but it's a good reference for at least how the legs and arms might bend, for anyone that might be confused on how to go about it. Also I mentioned Hilary showing us this in the post but I guess you didn't READ WHAT I SAID :p
DeleteThis is a great target to aim for. If we're going to emulate this design style then we should try to really stick too it.
ReplyDeleteI know Aldo and Keith both brought up Bear Film last year used this as an example but to be honest, the final film didn't emulate the way they used time as a medium at all.
This is a great example, if we're going to do this (which would work with the characters we have) then we got to stick to it.
Thoughts?
Something else I notice with this example is, a reason why it works they way it does, personally I think, is it's musical score, character designs, and animation all flow really well together. Have there been any thoughts on musical score for this short film yet? If so, it could have an influence on how we make the characters move.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great point. Music is something we have NOT thought about yet that should be discussed now.
DeleteI agree with Aldo, we don't have to do the exact style but I think it's an interesting way to bend the joints.
